    XP is fine
    I would add winRAR for archives
    MP11 is ok but do a search for allinone media codecs
    Office 2003 is marginly better than office xp ,imho
    you could add Paintshop pro this will open most forms of images
    you will never find a program that opens everything so it’s just a matter of adding tools to your toolbox as and when the need arises
